Preperations for the Olympics

These Olympics are going to be awesome. Check out these cool photos.

The Official Olympic Games Song 2008

Those crazy communists done made them a song.

Days With My Father

Here is a pretty neat way to honor an aging parent.

Mike Tyson/Paul Monea Mansion

This place is creepy. Money does not buy taste kids.

"What you are seeing is the former home of Boxer Mike Tyson. Tyson has not owned the home since the late 1990s. The home is actually owned by a business man name Paul Monea... actually, its owned by the Monea Family Trust, and currently, it may or may not be in the posession of law enforcement because it is, or was, at the center of an investigation involving Mr. Monea."

Gorbachov: Bigger and Russianer

Wow, what a twisted video. I can't quit watching it.

"You know, if I knew Gorbachov was all about titties and twinkies when I was a kid I’d probably have followed politics more."

Extinct Huh?

Making the museum more interesting with lifelike dinosaurs.

Love Parade 2008 Dortmund

Man, I have to get over to Germany to attend this parade one of these years. Here are some links to some pictures of this years festivities.

Cool panorama of Yankee Stadium

This panoramic view of Yankee Stadium on July 4 was shot using GigaPan technology. You can zoom in on any detail – from Alex Rodriguez approaching the plate in the first inning against the Red Sox to the façade of the new Yankee Stadium beyond leftfield. Taken by a robotic camera, the photo was shot over the course of 10 minutes and consists of 124 frames stitched together. Carnegie Mellon developed the GigaPan technology last year in collaboration with NASA.

Check it out! This very cool.

If you were there you could easily find yourself.

What the?

I found this awesome page of images taken from space. Here is a description of that page.

"The images you see below were taken at the turn of the Millennium, when NASA’s scientists had a brilliant idea: to scan through 400,000 images taken by the Landsat 7 satellite and display only the most the most beautiful. A handful of the best were painstakingly chosen and then displayed at the Library of Congress in 2000."

What I didn't expect to see is the brutal deforestation in South America. We all know that it is happening, but I don't think we know the extent of it. Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay seem to be the worst offenders.

Download Google Earth if you haven't already (if you haven't already, you're a loser) then check out this link to the deforestation.

Bolivia

Also look around Paraguay and Brazil while you are there. I'll bet at least half of the forest is gone.

Essential Life Lesson #1: Over is Right, Under is Wrong

"I always knew there were reasons why the overhand way was the right and correct way, but never before this have those reasons been illuminated with such blinding force -- the force of total and absolute truth."

This guy is pretty much a bad-ass.

I met the Walrus

This ia an awesome animation and a great message.

"In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message."

Finally, a Realistic Hollywood Sex Scene

Every now and then a movie comes out with a little Hollywood lie called "making love." Much like the Flight of the Conchords song "Business Time," this sketch makes fun of what happens during 89 percent of the sexual encounters the average person will have in his or her life. (via College Humor)

Amanda Beard makes the team!

I like swimming, and I like super hot women. So I really like Amanda Beard. As this is her fourth Olympic games I wonder what sort of chance she has? Go Amanda!

"Before a thunderous crowd of 13,247 red, white and blue-clad spectators, Beard, 26, completed another unlikely comeback to finish second in the 200-meter breaststroke and qualify for her fourth consecutive U.S. Olympic team."

America's Regional Hot Dog Styles

Here is a nice little review of Hot Dog styles across America. And the winner is.............. the Chicago Dog!

"All beef dogs in a steamed poppy seed bun and dragged through the garden: minced raw onion, neon sweet relish, sport peppers, pickle spear, halved tomato slices, yellow mustard, celery salt—and of course, no ketchup."

Some of the stuff this guy says slays me. Very funny guy.
